Black Burner Project

Sponsors/Art Producers

Black Burner Project (BBP) was founded by photographer Erin Douglas in 2019 with the goal to increase visibility of Black artists and healers at Burning Man through creating a large-scale installation on The Playa (the location of Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada). Douglas who received an Honorarium from the Burning Man Foundation in TK is bringing big energy, impact and intention to the event in a historic 30-foot tall BIPOC-centered photography art structure debuting at the highly-anticipated return of Burning Man (August 28 - September 5), after a two-year hiatus.

Titled "BLACK! Asé,” Ase is of Yoruba word and of philosophical concept, through which the Yoruba of Nigeria find power to manifest and bring into reality things to happen and produce change in their lives.

The most important tenement of this experience is meant to inspire community amongst BIPOC communities, that coming together for new experiences, and taking up space where we are historically excluded helps to bring the healing to the wounds of historical exclusion  , we can also encourage more collective traveling with larger groups when we come together to as a community. That is why we teamed up with Black Burner Project,  will join us  for a post burn celebration with our international Conducto Camp Out and will introduce portraits  of her documentation of the Bipoc community  at Rancho85.
